WMS collaborates with iChapter on the latest release of iChapter Network
Web Merchant Services has spent the better part of the first quarter of 2008 working along side iChapter Network to improve the iChapter Network application.
iChapter is a novel reservation management system specifically developed for non-profit organizations such as APICS — the “Advanced Processing and Inventroy Control Society” now known as “The Association for Operations Management” ( yeah, the acronym doesn’t work anymore ). iChapter did a total revamp of static content and some Web Services processes, improving the overall content and functionality of iChapter and processing of APICS chapters built out on the new iChapter Network 3.0 platform.
WMS worked to revise the “front end” of the application — the part that actually runs on a chapter’s website. We reorganized navigation, and tidied up title tags and some other minor SEO relevant things, but most significantly, we revamped the site template to weed out vestiges of classic ASP architecture replacing that with proper ASP.NET architecture and along with iChapter moved a lot of static constants to dynamic variables. Perhaps one of the most interesting advancements here was recoding the hosted application to dynamically “know” where it’s at under a domain name or IP address and then also “remember” that location when passed off to a shared Secure Socket Layer. These modifications enabled the hosted application to be pretty much “plug and play” on any server supporting ASP.NET.
We have already re-launched one APICS chapter on the new iChapter 3.0 platform, APICS Hartford County.
